Cathodic corrosion protection is essential for ensuring the longevity and operational efficiency of hydropower plants, where metal components are constantly exposed to aggressive environments, such as water, high humidity, and fluctuating temperatures. With increasing demands on performance and environmental sustainability, systems with impressed current often provide more effective protection compared to traditional sacrificial anodes.

Internal and external protection for hydropower facilities, particularly those exposed to water, has become critical for reducing maintenance costs and significantly extending the lifespan of equipment.

Cathodic corrosion protection with impressed current is increasingly used for heating plants and condensers when the resistance in the surrounding electrolyte (water) is often higher than usual.
